Digital Citizenship

The way we teach students the skills necessary to live a healthy, safe, and productive life, must be modeled and mirrored in the digital world as well. We live in a world where we rely more and more on technology, and at P186X we take very seriously the responsibility of teaching students in new and more engaging ways, while making sure we also teach the skills they must have to use technology responsibly. We teach our students, and encourage parents to stress the importance of setting limits for use of technology, and we focus on the use of technology as a learning tool.

Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy is a key component of getting students career and college ready. We work hard to increase our students digital literacy by offering a variety of technology classes, as well as utilizing technology in core academic subjects, helping students reinforce important technological skills, while they focus on academic content. We also teach students the basics of computer science, focusing on skills like coding.

Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead

As a continuation of our cross-curricular approach, we have an increased focus on combining Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.). By combining all of these approaches, we are able to activate all of the ways in which our students learn, or learning modalities, including:

  • visual
  • auditory
  • tactile/kinesthetic
  • taste/smell (yes we even cook!)
