P186X's main building is located on 750 Jennings Street in the Bronx, NY. It is a member of New York City's District 75, the largest Special Education district in the country.

To improve independence, communication skills, and problem solving through the use of Specially Designed Instruction(SDI).
MISSION
Transition students into the Least Restrictive Environment(LRE) by providing them with Direct Explicit Instructions.
District 75 MISSION
D75 provides quality and rigorous individualized educational programs to students with significant challenges and diverse language styles in a variety of settings that nurture independence, ensure dignity, and support integration into the community.
P186 THeory of Action
Teachers use academic language with students throughout instruction.
Teachers will teach vocabulary using core language attainment, core knowledge, and Engage New York. Students will proficiently access complex texts.
P186X Instructional focus
ELA SHIFT #6 ACADEMIC VOCABULARY
Students constantly build the transferable vocabulary they need to access grade level complex texts. This can be done effectively by spiraling like content in increasingly complex texts.
MATH SHIFT #3 - FLUENCY
Students are expected to have speed and accuracy with simple calculations; teachers structure class time and/or Homework time for students to memorize, through repetition, core functions.
